What WootDeals collects, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated September 23, 2026.

When you browse

• Server logs. Like any website, our server records requests: IP address, browser (user agent), the page asked for and when. We use them to keep the site running and to stop abuse.
• Our own statistics. To learn which pages and buttons are useful, the site records page views (page, time on page, referring site) and clicks (which link or button, and its label), together with your IP address and browser.
• Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to measure visits. Google sets its own cookies and processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on.
• On your device. Your browser stores a random identifier and your votes, so you can’t vote twice, and — if you submit a deal — a private reference token that lets you follow your submissions without an account. Clearing site data removes them.

If you create an account

We store your email address (encrypted), your display name, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), and what you save: bookmarks, followed deals, votes and feedback. A secure, HTTP-only cookie keeps you signed in for up to seven days. You can delete your account at any time from My dashboard → Settings; that removes your profile, email, bookmarks, follows and sessions. Your votes can be kept anonymously so deal tallies stay accurate.

If you submit a deal

We store the link, price and note you send. The name you enter is shown as “Shared by …” if the deal is published. Your contact email is optional, is only used to tell you whether your deal was published, and is never shown publicly.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it except with the services that run the site (hosting, email delivery and Google Analytics) or when the law requires it. WootDeals is not directed at children under 13.

Leaving the site

Deal links take you to the store (Woot, Amazon and others). Their privacy policies apply once you are there.

Questions and requests

Signed-in readers can send us a note from My dashboard → Feedback. To report a wrong price or a dead listing, use Submit a deal and add a note.
